This is the Tamagusuku district's shishimai. This shishimai has long since been an object of faith in the form of a guardian deity for the village. During the performance the local villagers would pray whilethe lion danced freely o the sound of a bell or other instrument. The Tamagusuku district's shishimai has been designated as an intangible ethnic cultural asset of Nanjo City.
