Amanchu

Amanchu is the legend of a giant told in the Tsuhako region of the Sashiki district. The legend states that Amanchu is three meters tall, and long, long ago appearedbefore the village elder and his grandchild. He then taught them about seeds ofgrain and how to raise and farm them. This art is passed down through a preservation society, and during festivals the part of the three meter tall Amanchu is played by having one person stand on the shoulders of another. The legend of Amanchu has been designated as an intangible ethnic cultural asset of Nanjo City.
