This is the Oujima Haarii. It is a haryuusen race held on March 4th on the old lunar calendar on Oujima, a small island with a circumference of approximately 6 kilometers located in the Tamagusuku district. Haryuusen are a type of row-boat that came from China. The race,Haarii, is a festival held in Okinawa for the coming of summer. The locals, as well as many tourists, come to watch this race every year.
