At Chinen Shitauehara in the Chinen district,fossils of deer and many other animals have beenexcavated. The area around the cliff where the fossilswere found is preserved very well, and alongwith the fossils recovered there the location hasbeen an extremely valuable spot for us to learnabout the geography and wildlife distributionthat once existed on the Ryukyu islands.
