CHINEN-UTTKA in the Chinen District, on the east side of the city, is a natural spring on the west side of the Chinen Castle ruins. It is said that the ancestors of the Okinawan people, the AMAMIKIYO settled here. As one of the places of worship for the AGARIUMAI pilgrimage which visits Chinen and Tamagusuku, it sees a steady stream of worshippers from all over Okinawa.
