Teda Ukkaa

Teda Ukkaa. A spring on the coast of the Chinen district. "Teda" means the sun in the Okinanawan dialect. It is said that the King of the Ryukyu kingdom would come here to drink from the bubbling spring, rest, and pray for safe passage over the sea. It is revered as one of the places of worship in the Agari Umai pilgrimage. In 1982, Teda Ukkaa was designated as an historic site by Chinen village (modern Nanjo city).
