Baten Utaki is located in Shinzato in the Sashiki district. Shou Hashi, who formed the Ryukyu kingdom,had a grandfather named Samegawa Ufunushi whois said to have moved from Iheyajima to live here. Baten Utaki is on a slightly elevated hill,and six places of prayer are scattered about thelush, green surroundings within the utaki.If you visit, you will likely see some of the localspraying at these locations.
